[APR014] Klakson – Hamburgers, Chips & Russians
It happened just like that. They see the photo on the net, they figure out a title for their new CD, and they get a song out of it. We are talking of when the Klakson stumble upon Ron Gluckman’s pic of a South African take away, with a name that fits like a glove within the aesthetic ideology of that unparalleled South Tyrolean band. Easier done than said: PS (the mind behind the curtains), instigated by Crazy (the producer behind the curtains) writes the song, bundles it with the stuff with BG (the rhythm behind the curtains) and Matita (the soul behind the curtains), and gets the whole affair mixed down at the Hollow Skulls in Nottingham.
Watch out, Airbagpromo Records takes off and finds Mr. Gluckman and gets the go ahead! Look, the Klakson come out with yet another jewel called “Hamburgers, Chips & Russians”! Listen, eight brand new original Klakson songs! Marvel, but don’t speak, for words are worse than the silence of our friends!

Es war ein Foto, das die Bozner Band Klakson – i favolosi Klakson – zu den Arbeiten am neuen Album inspirierte und diesem gleichzeitig auch seinen Namen schenkte.
Bereits vor dem digitalen Zeitalter hatte der amerikanische Reise-Fotograf Ron Gluckman einen “Take Away”-Schnellimbiss in Südafrika bildhaft festgehalten, der die Aufschrift “Hamburgers, Chips & Russians” trug. Somit war der passende Albumtitel gefunden, der gleichnamige Titeltrack komponiert und auch das dazugehörige Motiv für das Album-Cover gesichert, denn Gluckman überließ der Band seinen besonderen Schnappschuss.
Der Titeltrack selbst wurde von Stefano Predelli komponiert, der diesmal auch als Produzent (“produttore-manipolatore”) tätig war und entstand auf Initiative des langjährigen Klakson-Wegbegleiter Paolo Crazy Carnevale. Der Song wurde im Sommer 2012 in die Aufnahmesession zum neuen Album miteinbezogen, welches als Trio – in Besetzung mit Stefano Predelli, Bobbi Gualtirolo und Renato Mattiuzzo – eingespielt und anschließend in Nottingham behutsam inmitten der herbstlichen Farben montiert wurde.
Somit entstand ein Longplayer mit acht Songs, von denen sieben aus Stefano Predelli’s Feder stammen und ein weiterer von Bobbi Gualtirolo geschrieben wurde. Hört man der Band Klakson aufmerksam zu, so ist in zwei Songtexten auch eine Bezugnahme auf Bozner Stadtteile zu vernehmen (“Shangarola Babe” und “Tibetani de Oltrisarco 2.0”).

Die Formation Klakson ist seit über 30 Jahren Teil der Südtiroler Musikszene und veröffentlichte bereits Ende 2010 ihr Vorgängeralbum “Beauty & The Klakson” als freien, legalen Download über das Südtiroler Musiklabel Airbagpromo Records.
È stato un tutt’uno: vedere la foto su internet e trarne il titolo per il nuovo CD in gestazione e tirarne fuori una canzone con lo stesso titolo. La band bolzanina Klakson – i favolosi Klakson – è incappata casualmente in una foto scattata davanti ad un “take away” in Sud Africa dal fotografo americano Ron Gluckman. Nella fattispecie sulla facciata di questa tavola calda delle zone desertiche campeggiava la scritta “Hamburgers, Chips & Russians”: sembrava fatta apposta per i Klakson, che cominciano sempre tutto da un buon titolo.
Così in men che non si dica PS (di fatto il responsabile e il produttore-manipolatore di questo nuovo lavoro), su spinta di Crazy (stavolta nel ruolo di uomo dietro le quinte), ha scritto un brano con lo stesso titolo, includendolo nelle session di registrazione tenutesi nell’estate scorsa a Bolzano in compagnia di BG e di un incontenibile Matita (Renato Mattiuzzo), e poi maneggiate con calma a Nottingham nella bruma autunnale delle Midlands britanniche. Il tutto mentre l’Airbagpromo Records riusciva a rintracciare Mr. Gluckman e ad ottenere il permesso di usare la sua foto per la copertina.
Il risultato è una nuova raccolta di otto brani, quasi quaranta minuti come i dischi di una volta, sette a firma PS (al secolo Stefano Predelli) e uno a firma BG (Bobbi Gualtirolo), eseguiti in trio con l’aiuto delle tecnologie tanto care al Predelli; da notare, tra le altre canzoni, quella d’apertura e quella di chiusura, che prendono lo spunto da due quartieri popolari di Bolzano (“Shangarola Babe” e “Tibetani de Oltrisarco 2.0”).
